Baptism
Christian baptism is a prerequisite to church membership
Why is Baptism Important?
The last words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew are “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”” (Matthew 28:18–20) The baptism of believers is an outward physical declaration of an inward spiritual reality. This reality is that we have died to sin with Christ, the person we once were has been laid in the grave with Him and we are joined to Him in His resurrection life. We are His disciples. Christian baptism is a prerequisite to church membership and ought to be welcomed by all who profess Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
